Emma Lou is a 1.5 year old, spayed female who is an energetic Dalmatian mix! She has the sweetest face and we are guessing she is mixed with English Setter. Emma Lou came to CCDAL from a shelter in West Virginia.

She can be found hanging out in her foster home with her foster mom, dad, and their 11 year old son. She also shares the home with four other dogs and loves to play and just be with them. She is enjoying the big fenced-in yard where she can run and romp to her heart's content. At the end of a long, hard day, Emma curls up with the 11 year old boy for a nice long snooze! She is a super snuggler and just loves to give kisses and hang out with everyone!

Emma Lou is a very clever and agile girl. She can climb chain link fences if she sees you on the other side. She does not run away, she just comes to you. Her foster family also discovered that she can jump tall baby gates as she did get in the kitchen one morning to help herself to a nice breakfast of bacon, omelette, and cheese sticks. She then jumped back over and went back to bed. She is very eager to please and knows "sit" very well and that sitting gets her bones very quickly!

She is also an avid explorer/hunter and extremely intelligent and if there is a place to escape a fence, she will. The adopter will need to ensure their fence is secure or be an avid jogger and park visitor to keep her occupied and her energy drained. She is perfectly house-trained and has not ripped up anything in the house, but she has access to a lot of toys, balls, and Nylabones.

Emma Lou is finishing up a course of steroids for some bad itching she had when she arrived with her foster family and is taking Benadryl, Zyrtec and fish oil to help get her itching under control and her coat nice and healthy. She had a soothing bath when she first arrived and was very well behaved and stood still for the bath. She also has a case of "happy tail" which is when the tip of the tail is bleeding from excessive wagging and hitting objects. Her foster family is working on healing her tail, but that is a tough one since she likes to wag and wag!

Emma Lou has all her shots (she will be receiving her second Lyme vaccine the end of the month), is Heartworm and tick disease negative, on flea, tick and heartworm preventative, and very healthy. If you are interested in adopting her, please fill out the application on this website! She would love an active family of her own that can provide lots of love, exercise, and toys!
