Announcing the arrival of CCDAL's very own "Princess Grace", or Gracie as we like to call her. She hitched a red eye van from a rural area of Kentucky to meet a CCDAL volunteer in the wee hours. She was exhausted from her trip and was happy just to lay down and snooze on the back seat for the final leg of her journey to meet her foster mom. She gained some confidence when she met her foster mom's gentle giant of a Doberman Pinscher, Taz. (Check out her video below.)

Gracie is a very petite Dalmatian mix who is 13 months old and still a little unsure of her surroundings. She loves to lay and be groomed and her ears are just adorable and very expressive of how she is feeling. Before a rescue group in KY stepped in to help, Gracie lived here (see shack in picture) with dirty straw as her bedding. Not a suitable beginning for a Princess! Grace is going to need time to adjust to her surroundings and understand that, from now on, she can look forward to only the good things that life has to offer. Her foster parents are working with her to build her confidence, but it will take time and patience since she wasn't well cared for or socialized. Because all she knew was a filthy "hut" she is very afraid of everything new--like the inside of a house, gentle hands, household sounds, and sharing space with humans and dogs and cats!

Grace is spayed, up to date on her shots, heartworm negative, and is on monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventative. Overall, she is a healthy girl. Give her a little time to experience this new life; then, if you are interested in adopting Gracie, please fill out an application. It will be a joyous experience to watch Gracie become the confident and beautiful dog we know is inside there.
