POOH BEAR (Courtesy Posting)

Pooh Bear acts like a Dalmatian and she almost looks like the Dalmatian that most people recognize. The one difference is her fur...she has long hair and a very fluffy tail, which makes her a "long-coated" Dalmatian. This can happen when both the mother and the father carry a single copy of the long-coat gene. In that case, about 25% of the offspring would have long coats.

Pooh Bear is 8 to 10 years old, but her sparkling eyes tell you that she still has a lot of life to live and a lot of love to give. She was found in the house with her deceased owner. She is housebroken, sweet tempered and calm natured. She has a great personality and enjoys the company of other dogs, cats, and people who pay attention to her.

The wonderful people from the Basset Hound Rescue League saved her from the shelter and are paying for her treatment. The Beltsville Veterinary Hospital is treating her intestinal parasites and heartworms, and the Dalmatian rescue people are going to foster and help place her.

We hope that you will watch this space for updates on Pooh's progress throughout her treatment. Her vet says that she should be completely healthy and ready to go to a new home by the end of February. She is one very special dog that will soon make a wonderful addition to a loving family.
